BIOGRAPHY

I am a professor and a visual artist. My work explores themes of isolation and mental illness with an interdisciplinary approach which includes drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. I am a Visiting Lecturer and the Director of the Jewett Art Gallery in the Art Department at Wellesley College. I also teach as a Critic in the Division of Foundation Studies and the Printmaking Department at the Rhode Island School of Design.

My work has been exhibited at the International Print Center New York, Bromfield Gallery, the Danforth Museum of Art, the Currier Museum of Art, the RISD Museum of Art, and the Davis Museum and Cultural Center. I completed a BFA in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I am also working on a children's book series, "Dollies".

I have played oboe with orchestras in Boston, Providence, and New York City. I have performed with the Greenwich Village Orchestra, the Melrose Symphony, the Brooklyn Symphony, the Concord Orchestra, and the Brown University orchestra. I currently play with the New Philharmonia Orchestra. You can listen to clips of my solo and orchestral playing here.

You can read more on my blog, follow my art on my Facebook page, or follow my children's book series on the Dollies Facebook page. View an archive of my students' work on my Flickr page. Watch a 20 minute documentary about my artwork and teaching.
